Split

Split is a city that truly has it all. Located on the eastern coast of Croatia and surrounded by the Adriatic Sea, coastal hills, and thick forests, Split is a breathtakingly beautiful destination. As the largest city in Croatia's southern Dalmatian region, Split has a long and storied history dating back to its founding by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. This rich cultural heritage is evident in the city's many historical sites and landmarks, including the Old Town of Split, which is located within the walls of Emperor Diocletian's 3rd-century palace. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets and alleyways lined with charming cafes and ancient churches, as well as a range of architectural styles including Renaissance facades, Romanesque churches, and Venetian-style structures.

In addition to its historical attractions, Split also boasts a lively waterfront, which is home to a variety of seaside shops and cafes serving up delicious seafood dishes like grilled fish, calamari, and baby octopus. For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, a short walk south of the old town brings you to Marjan, a region known for its lush green pine forests, stunning beaches, and breathtaking coastal views. With its rich multicultural heritage and abundance of things to see and do, Split is a city that truly has something for everyone. The best way to fully experience all that Split has to offer is to explore the city on foot and let your curiosity lead you to its hidden gems.
