Brač

Brač is a Croatian island that boasts a rich cultural history dating back over 3,000 years. It is located in the Adriatic Sea off of the Dalmatian coast and is known for its unique landscape, which is divided into low plains and steep rock formations. The western side is flat and low-lying, while the eastern side features sheer limestone hills and cliffs. A popular tourist destination on the island is the Tunafish Caves, which were formed by the erosion of the eastern winds over time.
One of the most notable features of Brač is its stone called 'bracite', a sedimentary rock that is found at the highest peak of the mountain, Vidova Gora. This mineral has been valued in the region for centuries due to its use in construction and craftsmanship. It can be found in various forms on the island, including building blocks and sculptures in the Brač Sculpture Park.

How to reach Brač and its Beaches

The island is home to a number of beautiful natural beaches, as well as historic villages and rural areas to explore. The remote beaches of Pakleni Otoci are particularly serene and romantic, and are considered some of the most beautiful spots in Croatia and the Balkan region.
Tourism is well-established on Brač, with a mix of small shops, hostels, and restaurants in the towns, as well as larger hotels in the main cities. Some of the main attractions include the centuries-old windmill, which has been restored in recent years, and several old churches that are open to visitors, including the 4,000-year-old Church of St. John-Krsto.
Brač is easily accessible by ferry from Split and Sveti Juraj, which both offer daily service. Smaller boats also transport visitors to less populated areas, but the most common mode of transportation on the island is by car. Overall, Brač is a diverse and multicultural destination that offers a wide range of activities and scenery, making it an ideal holiday destination.
