Susak

Nestled at the northern end of the Adriatic Sea, the small and sandy circular island of Susak in Croatia is a popular tourist destination that boasts a wealth of activities, offerings, and attractions. Despite its small size, measuring just three kilometers in circumference, Susak offers an abundance of opportunities for relaxation and exploration.
One of the island's most notable features is its sandy beaches, which set it apart from many other nearby islands with pebble or stone shores. Visitors can spend their days lounging on the golden sands, swimming in the crystal clear sea, or participating in beachside yoga. The island is also known for its late-night swimming in magical bays and its calm, rhythmic ocean atmosphere.
Inland from the beaches, Susak's Remete forest features a network of walking and biking trails where you can discover many species of plants and animals that are native to the area, such as the Susak Long-eared Bat and Susak Pheasant. These unique species can only be found on the island.
Additionally, Susak is home to the world's only "gastronomic trail," where you can savor a range of local dishes and visit small-town eateries. The island is also renowned for its delicious seafood, with old fishermen's tales speaking of the abundance of sea life in the area.
If you're seeking cultural activities, Susak offers plenty of entertainment, including churches such as the Church of Annunciation, Sacred Heart Church, and the ancient Church of St. Lawrence, as well as local museums and galleries that showcase the island's history and culture. For a night of dancing and music, head to a local konoba (tavern) where traditional tunes fill the air as you dance until the sun rises.
