Umag

Umag, a small coastal town in northern Croatia, is located just a few kilometers away from the border of Slovenia and the Italian town of Trieste. In recent years, Umag has gained popularity among tourists due to its stunning landscapes, pleasant Mediterranean climate, and various attractions.
As you wander through the historic town center, you'll find cobblestone streets lined with centuries-old buildings, a testament to the town's history of being ruled by different countries such as Venice and the Austro Hungarian Empire. One of the most iconic landmarks in Umag is the Church of the Immaculate Conception and its bell tower, which towers above the red-roofed houses.
The coastline near Umag is breathtaking, featuring sandy beaches and lush Mediterranean vegetation. In the surrounding areas, you'll find olive and pine groves, vineyards, lavender and rosemary fields, as well as orchards full of oranges, lemons, mandarins, and figs. There are also many small islands and islets nearby that you can explore.
Umag is a town full of cultural events and festivals, especially in the summer when the town comes alive with street performances, music concerts, art exhibitions, and art markets. The town is also home to the ATP Umag Tennis Open, an annual world-famous tournament that has hosted numerous top players.
If you're a foodie, Umag is the perfect place to try traditional Croatian dishes such as brudet, brodetto, and sardines cooked in olive oil. The town has numerous restaurants, bars, and cafes where you can enjoy some of the freshest seafood in Croatia.
