Mirna

The River Mirna is a must-see destination for nature enthusiasts and outdoor enthusiasts in Croatia. Located in the Istrian Peninsula, it is the third-longest river in the country, stretching for 100 kilometers before emptying into the Adriatic Sea. The river's crystal-clear waters start high in the Motovun Mountain, winding their way through ancient forests and thickly wooded valleys on their journey towards the sea.
With a total catchment area of 1081 square kilometers, the River Mirna is home to a variety of freshwater fish, including trout, grayling, and the endangered Ionian salmon. This makes it a popular spot for anglers from all over the world who come to test their skills and try to catch these species. In addition to fishing, the river is a popular spot for boating, with several charter companies offering upriver and downriver tours of the River Mirna. These tours take tourists as far as the picturesque village of Bednja, allowing them to take in the stunning views of the Croatian countryside.
Along the banks of the River Mirna, travelers can find peaceful and beautiful places to camp, cycle, and hike. Adventure seekers come to Istria from all over the world to experience the natural beauty of the area and the many activities available, such as mountain biking, climbing, and trekking.
