With a size of 12.3 km², Lake Vrana is the largest natural lake in Croatia. It is fed by various nearby rivers, including Tekela, Misnjica, Kupa, and Željava stream. Its vegetation is extremely diverse and includes fields of Empetrum nigrum, Vaccinium myrtillus, and Genista tinctoria.
Lake Vrana is also home to several aquatic animal species, such as carp and pike, and serves as an important migratory stop for a variety of birds, making it a popular destination for birdwatchers. The shoreline of Lake Vrana is steep and rocky, except for certain marshland areas that harbor a variety of wetland plants. There are many bathing beaches and a range of camping and picnic sites scattered around the lake, providing visitors with the opportunity to fully enjoy nature.
