Dugi Otok

Located in the Adriatic Sea, the Croatian island of Dugi Otok is a stunning destination known for its rocky coastline and rich biodiversity. Covering an area of approximately 115 square kilometers, it is the seventh largest island in the Adriatic and is home to a number of protected reserves, including the Vidrovo and Mir lake reserves, which provide a habitat for many endangered species and over 80 plant species, including rare endemic species. In addition, the island is surrounded by rich aquaculture environments, including lagoons, sandbars, and sea coral, which support a diverse range of marine life.
In addition to its natural beauty, Dugi Otok is home to thriving olive and fruit plantations, as well as extensive vineyards. The humid climate in the highlands supports rich local vegetation and beneficial fauna. Tourists can enjoy the island's many stunning beaches and hidden coves, as well as popular attractions such as the paradise beach of Sakarun, the picturesque fishing village of Brbinj, and the 7,500 acre Telascica Nature Park, which includes the Savršenica mountain and bay and is home to a variety of wildlife.
Although the island is largely uninhabited, it offers a range of activities and amenities for visitors, including camping sites, cycling paths, restaurants, and shops, as well as outdoor activities such as swimming, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, and hiking. In addition, Dugi Otok is home to several historic monuments and churches, including the 16th-century Fortress of St. Mary, which was once an important part of the defense system for the Continent of Europe. With its breathtaking landscape, diverse ecosystem, and rich culture, Dugi Otok is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a beautiful and exciting vacation spot.
