Krapina

Krapina, a small Croatian city located in the Zagorje region, is only a short 20-minute drive from the regional capital of Zagreb. Known for its rich cultural heritage and historic sites, Krapina has long been a popular destination for Croatian and international visitors alike. With a population of around 5,000, this charming city boasts a history dating back to the 1400s, making it one of the oldest settlements in Croatia.
Located in the city center, the Church of St. Stephen is a Baroque place of worship built between 1733 and 1794. Famous for its frescos and statues of the patron saint, the church is a must-see for anyone interested in Croatian history. Just a few steps away from the center lies the history museum, which houses a variety of collections of local artifacts, including a room dedicated to the history of the region's musical instruments and costumes.
Krapina is also home to a range of cultural events and festivals, such as the "Praznik hrvackog orkestra" and the "Krapina Summer Carnival." Both of these events attract locals and visitors alike, with the former featuring traditional performances of the 'Hrvacko Orchestra' and the latter offering a variety of musical, dance, and cultural activities. In addition to these events, the city also boasts several cultural institutions, galleries, and performance centers, such as the Town Theatre, which hosts musical performances, lectures, and exhibits.
