Dobra

The Dobra is one of the most important waterways of the Croats and the only major tributary in the border region of Croatia and Slovenia. The Dobra is renowned for its natural beauty, sporting activities and its scenic riverside villages and attractions.
The Dobra River is a typical Central European meandering river, with an average depth below 6 metres and a width of approximately 60 metres. The river runs through a picturesque valley and is crossed by two dykes, making a unique and spectacular landscape. Along the river are a variety of plants and animals, including deer, beaver and salmon.
The Dobra is well known for its excellent fishing opportunities. The waters support a variety of freshwater species, such as trout, barbel, pike and other predatory fish. Anglers are attracted to the river due to its abundant stocks and the variety of fish species. Fishermen also come from across Europe as the river is home to some of the continent’s biggest fish.
The Dobra is also popular with tourists and outdoor enthusiasts who come to explore the beautiful landscapes. Rafting, canoeing and kayaking are popular activities, and visitors can take in the breathtaking views of the river, the forest and the mountains. The Dobra also features a number of small, quaint villages and historic sites, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the local culture and heritage.
The Dobra is home to some of the finest waterfalls in Croatia and, more notably, the impressive White Water Falls, also known as Brzina Vode. The falls are the result of the river running through shallow areas, creating a unique water display.
