Ugljan

Ugljan is a small island located in the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Northern Croatia. It is surrounded by 41 separate islands, making up a spectacular archipelago. The island boasts a sunny climate and boasts beautiful whitewashed buildings, sandy beaches, and a rich cultural heritage. This makes it a popular tourist destination. Additionally, Ugljan is known as the gateway island because of its strategic location between the mainland town of Zadar and the larger island of Pag. It offers regular boat services to and from both of these places, making it an ideal spot for tourists to explore the archipelago. Furthermore, Ugljan has its own attractions, including stunning views of the nearby islands of Ist, Dugi Otok, Molat, and Silba.
The villages on Ugljan offer a wide range of traditional restaurants, cafes, and bars, which are especially popular in the summer months. These establishments offer a range of atmospheres, from calm and family-friendly to lively bars and music venues. Visitors come to Ugljan to try the traditional Mediterranean cuisine, which includes an abundance of seafood, as well as locally produced wines and spirits. The island is also a great place to enjoy outdoor activities like mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, and swimming.
Throughout the year, Ugljan hosts several cultural events, including music and theatrical performances, art exhibitions, and sporting events. These are particularly abundant in the summer months. The island is also home to a number of churches and monuments, such as the Church of St Stephen and the 15th century Church of Our Lady of the Rocks. In addition, Ugljan's coastline provides beautiful opportunities for beach holidays, snorkelling, and scuba diving. Its beaches, many of which are shingle, offer excellent sunbathing spots, and the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic Sea make the island a great spot for sailing and kayaking. The marina of Ugljan is also a great place to try traditional regional seafood specialities.
