Galešnjak

Galešnjak is a magical Croatian island located off the coast of Zadar, affectionately known as the "Island of Love" by locals. This beloved Mediterranean island is home to lush fields dotted with wildflowers, a picturesque white beach with crystal clear emerald waters, and a mysterious hill in the center that is rumored to be the perfect spot for declaring one's love.
One of the most unique features of Galešnjak is its heart-shaped layout, which is quite rare among Croatian islands. This characteristic was first noticed by a Croatian man from Zadar in 2008 and has since become a focal point of the island, appearing on maps of the Adriatic Sea with a heart-shaped hand symbol.
Locals can often be found fishing from the shore, swimming in the clear waters, and picking fruit from the trees that abound across the island. Irena Mihaljević, owner of the Aurora Guesthouse on the island, says, "Sweets such as oranges, melons, figs, and pomegranates were spread all over the island in summertime." Adding to its charm, Galešnjak also boasts a tiny chapel built in the 1800s that overlooks a small hill and beach. The chapel is adorned with religious symbols, including a portrait of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, despite not being an official place of worship.
Overall, Galešnjak is a magical Croatian island known for its stunning beauty and rich history of romance. Its rare heart-shaped feature makes it a must-visit destination for tourists from all over the world, particularly couples seeking the blessing of eternal love.
