Komiža

Komiža is a charming Croatian fishing town located on the island of Vis in the Adriatic Sea. It is the perfect destination for those looking for relaxation, romance, and a chance to learn about an ancient culture that is still alive today. Additionally, Komiža is famous for its deep-sea fishing, with a bustling harbor filled with fishing boats that provide a livelihood for the locals. The seafood caught by these boats is brought to the fish market daily and is also served at the numerous seafood restaurants along the harbor wall. This lively atmosphere is set against the stunning backdrop of the mountains rising out of the crystal clear ocean, making Komiža a must-see for sightseers.
The town itself features a maze of cobbled streets that wind their way down to the harbor. At the top of these streets sits the well-preserved St Nicholas fortress and clock tower, a stunning architectural feat dating back to the 16th century. Visitors can climb the winding stone steps to get a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. The old town is full of traditional buildings with high wooden shutters adorning the old stone homes. This unique architecture was brought over by Italian settlers and has been preserved over the centuries. The old town square maintains these traditions with its outdoor restaurant terraces and daily market, where locals go to buy fresh produce, cheese, and herbs.
In addition to its natural beauty, Komiža also has a vibrant cultural scene with a lively music scene that hosts jazz festivals, beach parties, and summer concerts. The nightlife is full of energy, with plenty of bars, clubs, and live music. It's no surprise that Komiža is a romantic paradise, with its turquoise ocean and breathtaking mountain views creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere for couples. This picturesque town is becoming increasingly popular with everyone from families and backpackers to couples and adventurers.
