Krka - National Park

The Krka National Park in Croatia is a truly stunning destination that should not be missed by anyone traveling to Europe. Situated in Southern Croatia, this national park covers an impressive 109 square kilometers and is home to a variety of breathtaking natural wonders, including waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and gorges that will transport visitors to a real-life fairytale.
The Krka River flows through the park and is 115 km long. As it flows through the park, it cascades over gorges, rapids, and stone walls, forming seven stunning waterfalls. The most famous of these waterfalls is the Skradinski Buk, which drops 45m and is known for its clear blue-green waters. This waterfall is one of the most photographed sites in the park and is also popular among swimmers and kayakers due to its tranquil shallow areas.

Krka Lakes

In addition to the waterfalls, the park is also home to the Krka Lakes, which have formed over thousands of years due to the erosion of limestone rocks. These lakes are known for their breathtaking turquoise hues and are home to a diverse array of plant and animal life, including luscious foliage, a variety of fish species, and aquatic plants.
The Krka National Park is also home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including over 800 species of plants and more than 250 species of birds. Visitors to the park may also spot otters, falcons, bats, and various types of reptiles, all of which are living in their natural habitat and are properly protected. This allows visitors to experience the majesty of Croatia's wildlife in its purest form.
In addition to its natural beauty, the Krka National Park is also an important part of the cultural heritage of the region. This is evident in the various churches, monasteries, and fortresses scattered throughout the park, some of which are over 1,000 years old. These unique sites are rich in history and culture and provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the history of Croatia.
